INTO, along with our colleagues in the UTU and ATL teaching unions, have launched a lobbying campaign in the run up to the 2016 elections to ensure that education is placed at the top of our politicians' agendas.
Speaking at this year's Northern Conference, Gerry Murphy, INTO Northern Secretary told delegates that the only way to secure more money for education is to ensure education is at the heart of the Executive's policy making.
He said: "We need to get more money into the education budget. We need to protect our members, their jobs, their terms and conditions. We need to invest in our children who are the next generation of economic drivers. We need to invest in the future of society.
"This opportunity lies in a concerted effort in the run up to the Assembly election on the part of all teaching unions to force education to the top of politicians' agenda".
In addition to the information that has been issued to INTO members, a joint Manifesto outlining the issues affecting education and schools in Northern Ireland and the changes required has been forwarded to all election candidates.
We are also encouraging all our members to email their local candidates directly using the sample email supplied below.
