Job Security for teachers in Catholic Post-Primary Schools
There is no agreed written School Closures’ Agreement in the NI Teachers’ Negotiating Committee. As such teachers are vulnerable in any school rationalisation proposals. INTO welcomes the efforts by NICCE to have the Collective Agreement for School Amalgamations applied to all its Northern Ireland project proposals.
Teachers and support staff in Catholic schools are vitally important and NICCE must take responsibility for their future job security. This would guarantee some minimal protections for teachers in school rationalisation. Currently these minimal protections do not exist. Until these minimal protections do exist INTO must oppose all rationalisation that is not agreed locally with recognised teachers’ unions.
