The first day of Conference ended with a Dinner Dance for delegates, guests and friends.  Before dinner awards were presented on behalf of the INTO to the following recipients:

Winner of the INTO Art Competition 2012/13

The winner of the inaugural INTO Art Competition is Magdalena Beldowska, Holy Rosary Primary School, Belfast with her oil on board work 'Castlewellan Forest'.  Magdalena said: "I specialise in oil painting. I like to experiment with colours to create images of warmth, sunlight and shadow. This art competitionhas given me an opportunity to show that even in a busy life there is always time to be imspired by the simple beauty of the world."

Long Service Pins

One of the highlights of Conference was the presentation of INTO pins by the President Anne Fay. INTO pins are presented to long serving members in recognition of a life time of service to the organisation. Those awarded pins at Conference were Terry Pattison (South Armagh), Mona Kelly, Rita Fox and Pat Morris (Tyrone Central), John O’Hea (Lisburn) and Peter McNulty (Strabane).

In recognition of all their hard work completing the 'Belfast to Ballydavid or Bust' Maracycle organised to raise money for The Friends of the Cancer Centre our colleagues, Barney Magill (organiser), Kevin Smyth, Mark McTaggart and Des McDonagh were presented with an engraved figurine as a memento .  A massive £31,189 was raised through this and other fund raising events held throughout the year.

Entertainment

Following dinner our delegates were entertained by 'The Swing Gals' - one of Northern Ireland's only all girl vocal collectives, well known for their close harmonies and sophisticated interpretations of jazz, pop and easy listening favourites. They performed a lively mix of easy listening tunes, all with piano providing the core and a series of well defined and carefully worked out close vocal harmonies.  They were enjoyed by all for their both their music and the dancing that followed!
