Union Applauds Minister's Decision on CBAs

The Irish National Teachers` Organisation (INTO), welcomed the decision by the Education Minister, Mr John O’Dowd to move away from the use of Computer Based Assessments (CBAs) in schools. Speaking after the announcement in the Assembly, Mrs Mary Dorman, Chairperson of INTO`s Northern Committee applauded the Minister for announcing his decision today.

The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation welcomed the announcement by Mr John O`Dowd, MLA, Minister for Education, that he has secured £12M from the OFMDFM scheme for Delivering Social Change Signature Project to employ around 230 recently qualified graduate teachers to address the issue of literacy and numeracy in selected primary and post primary schools.

INTO is increasingly concerned that the current strategy for SEN is failing teachers, schools and more importantly pupils. While we await the formal implementation of the recommendations of the SEN and Inclusion Reviews teachers are reporting that many of the changes have already been introduced.
