INTO Separated Teachers' Support Group

About us

For over twenty-five years, the Separated Teachers' Support Group has played a pivotal role in supporting teachers at a crucial period in their professional lives. Since its' formation in 1988, S.T.S.G has been and continues to be a powerful positive influence for members experiencing loss and bereavement through the separation from or death of a spouse. A range of activities social, therapeutic, legal and practical is offered to group members. These activities encourage healing, promote the development of friendships and provide valuable support to members in rebuilding their lives.

Aim: to provide support for members and facilitate a climate of healing through the provision of workshops and social activities.

Activities

  • 5 meetings are held annually.
  •  Club na Muinteoiri is the venue for the A.G.M (held in November) and also the March meeting. The I.N.T.O.  President usually attends the A.G.M.
  • Two meetings (January and October) are held in various parts of the country.
  • The September meeting has been held in Athlone for the past two years. Athlone is regarded as a central location and is accessible to a broader geographic spread of members.

Each meeting incorporates a lively social element. The welcoming and supportive atmosphere facilitates the development of warm friendships among group members. New members are very welcome to attend. Dates of meetings are advertised in In Touch and on the website.

The leaflet can be made available to new members by contacting the secretary at 085 2394661.

S.T.S.G takes a stand at Congress each year.

Membership

S.T.S.G membership is open to separated, divorced, widowed and also to teachers who are single parents. Our group also welcomes members of T.U.I, A.S.T.I. and I.F.U.T. Members of Northern Ireland teachers' unions are also most welcome to join.
