Whole School Evaluation in Primary Schools

Whole-school evaluation (WSE) is an external evaluation of a school carried out by the Inspectorate in accordance with the Education Act 1998. A board and staff of a school must accord inspectors every reasonable facility and co-operation in the performance of their duties.  

The WSE process is divided into three phases:

• Phase 1 – the pre-evaluation phase
• Phase 2 – the in-school evaluation phase
• Phase 3 – the post-evaluation phase
