“Croke Park” Hours: reminder about further flexibility of usage from September 2017
INTO members are reminded about the greater flexibility on usage of “Croke Park” hours, agreed by the INTO in negotiations with the DES last year. From this school year up to 10 hours may be made available for planning and development work other than on a whole school basis. (See Circular 0042/2016 for details).
At time of their introduction from February 2011, the only provision was for use of the 36 “Croke Park” hours as a full staff. However, usage of 5 of the hours on an “other than a whole-school” basis was negotiated for the 2014-15 school year. Under the terms of the Lansdowne Road Agreement (LRA), this was increased to 8 hours for the school year 2016-17.
The cap on the amount of time which may be made available for planning and development work, other than on a whole-school basis, has been raised to 10 hours for the current school year, 2017-18.
See the FAQ section on the INTO website for more information on the use of "Croke Park" hours.
