INTO and IMPACT Discuss Work to Rule

The INTO and IMPACT Trade Unions have had detailed discussions on the implementation of work to rule directives in primary and special schools. Representatives present discussed the range of actions currently being undertaken by both unions in the context of the opposition to the cuts in pay and proposed changes to pensions imposed by the Government in Budget 2010.

Both sides agreed that any actions being taken should seek to minimize the impact on the education outcomes of pupils in schools. It was also agreed that a ‘common sense’ approach would be taken to individual situations and that representatives of both unions were available to clarify matters for their respective members.

It was further agreed that the representatives of both unions would remain in ongoing contact about the developing situation.
