Croke Park Deal Update

Initial discussions have taken place on the implementation of the Croke Park agreement in the education sector. The Department of Education and Skills has agreed to establish a process of engagement regarding the additional hour per week and the contract review. The DES stated that it expects this process to be timebound. A circular will issue from the DES on the conclusion of the talks in the coming weeks.
 
Pending the finalisation of the talks, and any subsequent circular, the INTO advises that existing practices remain in place. See Circular 14/04 for current arrangements.
 
The CEC is meeting on Thursday and Friday next and will be considering all aspects of the current negotiations. Further updates will be posted after that meeting.
