INTO Annual Congress 2017

The Annual Congress of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation will take place

in:        The Waterfront Hall, Belfast
from:    Monday 17 April 2017
to:        Wednesday 19 April 2017

Members of the media are welcome to attend public sessions of the conference.

Approximately 850 delegates representing 34,000 primary teachers in the south and 7,000 teachers in the north will attend.

The Conference will be addressed at its opening session at 2pm on Monday 17 April 2017 by the INTO President, Rosena Jordan.

On Tuesday 18 April 2017 the Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton TD will address Congress and the INTO General Secretary, Sheila Nunan will respond.

This year INTO Congress will be dominated by pay, north and south, industrial relations issues of concern to teachers and education issues of concern to members. These include pay equality and pay restoration, conditions of employment, pensions, the funding of schools, the ban on promotion, school leadership, the primary school curriculum, special needs teaching, tackling disadvantage and teacher supply.

The Conference continues until 3.00pm on Wednesday 19 April 2017.
