Why attend this event?
Appendix D of the Rules and Constitution of Boards of Management has recently been revised and updated. The procedures outlined in this Appendix set out fair and impartial mechanisms for the appointment of teachers in primary schools. It is essential that Principal Teachers are familiar with these procedures.
In addition post appointment there are a number of matters to be considered and finalised such as:
The completion of the Primary Appointment Form
Teaching Council Registration
Medmark
Assessing whether the new teacher is a ‘newentrant’ for pension purposes
Assessing whether the teacher is a ‘new appointee for pay purposes
Contract issues: Permanent, Fixed-Term, Specific Purpose, Substitute
These and other matters will be dealt with at the seminar.
Re-deployment Panels
The seminar will also give an overview of the operation of the re-deployment panel at primary level. In addition it is anticipated that there will be a number of changes in the operation of the re-deployment of fixed-term teachers commencing this year. Details of these changes will be outlined at the seminar.
The DES has authorized the release of teachers to attend the seminars but unfortunately substitute cover is not provided for such release.
