Teaching unions pledge to campaign together for higher investment in education

The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation, along with the Teachers Union of Ireland, the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland, and the Irish Federation of University Teachers met today to discuss Budget 2020 and the challenges faced by everyone in the education system in Ireland.

A week to the day of Budget 2020, with more information available on the government’s spending commitments for education, the three unions discussed how they would work together in the coming months.

Speaking following the meeting, INTO General Secretary John Boyle said:

Immediately following Budget 2020, INTO has set to work engaging with all leading stakeholders in the education sphere. We must work together to hold this government to account. Our members were short-changed last week in a budget that lacked both vision and conviction. All four unions have pledged to campaign together to secure higher investment in education in the coming months
