VHI premium refunds for teachers to start from today

INTO members who have their VHI premiums deducted from their salary, will have their premium rebates, due as a result of COVID-19 changes, processed through their salary starting from today.

For the past three months, private hospitals have fallen under the remit of the Health Service Executive (HSE) meaning that many elective appointments and procedures in private hospitals were postponed. As a result of this, and the expected decrease in private hospital claims, VHI, Irish Life Health and Laya Healthcare, announced rebates for their members.

Starting from today (9 July), and continuing until 15 October, INTO members who pay their VHI premiums through their salary, will see a reduction in their premiums.

VHI is the only health insurer that has a deduction-at-source arrangement with the Department of Education. Other health insurance companies are issuing their rebates in different ways. For more information, read an article on the topic in the June InTouch.
