7th January 2022
If you want to shape INTO policy and set our programme of work for the next 12 months, come along to your online Branch AGM in January to find out how you can be nominated as a delegate to Northern Conference.
What is Northern Conference?
Northern Conference is a regional conference held in the north each year where delegates debate and vote on motions submitted by branches and districts. It also scrutinises the Northern Committee Report detailing the work undertaken by INTO in the previous year.
Why is Northern Conference Important?
Northern Conference sets the agenda for INTO in the north by setting the programme of work for the Northern Committee, Officials and Northern Office for the incoming year.
Where and when is Northern Conference?
This year’s Northern Conference will be held in The Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen from Friday 4 to Saturday 5 March 2022 (COVID restrictions permitting).
Who can attend Northern Conference?
Delegates nominated by INTO branches in Districts 1 and 2, members and incoming members of the Northern Committee and members of the Central Executive and Benefit Funds Committees.
How can I attend Northern Conference?
To be nominated as a delegate, make sure you attend your online Branch AGM in January*. Further details can be found in our EVENTS calendar.
*NB: At their meeting on Thursday 6 January 2022, the INTO Central Executive Committee took the decision that all INTO meetings/events are to be held online rather than face-to-face until otherwise directed. Members will be kept informed of any changes to this directive.
Democracy in Action
At your Branch AGM, if you have an opinion on an issue, you can request that it be put forward as a motion for Conference. Motions that are passed by branches are submitted for placement on the Northern Conference Agenda. At Conference, following debate, if a majority of delegates support your motion it becomes policy and INTO will work towards its implementation. In this way, every individual member has the ability to determine INTO policy and have their voice heard.
