Application for Ill-health Retirement

Where the weight of medical evidence suggests that a teacher may no longer have the health or physical capacity for employment as a teacher or where a teacher’s attendance at work is such as to question whether he/she is capable of providing regular and sustained service, application for termination of employment on the grounds of ill-health may be made.

The DE guide below (June 2021) provides you with information that is useful to know when you’re considering applying for Ill-health Retirement with the NI Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

Ill-health Retirement Guide
