Newly Qualified Teachers Urged to Join INTO

Three Months Free Membership for New Joiners

All newly qualified teachers, whether serving on longer term or on substitute contracts, should join INTO at the first opportunity. Your place is in the INTO which has been the voice of teachers for 150 years and currently has 45,000 members.

The union represents members on issues of pay and conditions, on workplace relations and in matters of education. INTO also issues regular publications to members, offers advice on individual and collective queries, provides professional development opportunities, and
organizes a range of schemes for members including salary protection and the “membership plus” discount card.

How to Join
Joining has never been easier. Simply go to the INTO website and click on the “Join the INTO” button, then “Join Online”. Once you complete the online form, including the salary deduction mandate, and click submit you will be a member of INTO. All new members have free membership for three months on joining.

Substitute Teacher Members
Up until now, substitute members had to pay an upfront annual subscription on joining. Since our subscriptions are changing to a percentage basis from 1 January 2019, there is now no upfront payment and all substitute teacher joiners will have free membership until 1 January 2019. Thereafter, a deduction of 0.75% will apply. (For a newly qualified teacher who works every day of the school year this amounts to a payment of less than €10.50 per fortnight for the full benefits and protections of INTO membership).

Your Place is in the INTO
Whether a newly qualified or already serving teacher, your place is in the INTO. Take the important step now to join with your colleagues in strengthening the voice of the profession by joining your union.
