Time for Equality

Northern Ireland is the only region of the UK which does not provide or recognise same-sex marriage, despite huge support among the public and Northern Ireland Assembly members.

In the absence of functioning devolution, only Parliament can undo the ban on same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland. To do this, Conor McGinn MP has introduced a Private Member’s Bill, which is due to have a second reading on Friday 26 October 2018. The Love Equality campaign – directed towards the Prime Minister, Northern Ireland Secretary of State and the Minister for Women and Equalities – calls on the Government to back this legislation by providing the necessary time for Parliament to vote on extending marriage equality to Northern Ireland.

Thank you from all at Love Equality.
