Department issues guidance on end-of-year reports

As schools approach the deadline for submitting end-of-year reports, teachers find themselves in a unique situation having been separated from the pupils in their class since mid-March. The current Covid-19 closure adds an extra, challenging dimension to report writing this term, given the inequalities of access to and participation in remote learning. Teachers of sixth class children in particular have concerns with regard to the information that will be communicated to post-primary schools as their pupils embark on a major transition to a new school setting.

INTO sought advice and clarification from the Department of Education and Skills for teachers as they prepare end-of-year reports to parents of children in primary school. The following document, published today, answers some frequently asked questions that schools may have in providing end-of-year written reports.
