The Breast Health Awareness & Education Programme, launched by the INTO in partnership with Cornmarket and Breast Cancer Ireland last year, has moved online.
Now in its second year, the programme is available to all INTO members and support staff in schools.
The feedback to date on the programme has been excellent, with 100% of survey respondents rating the programme as excellent or very good, and 100% of respondents saying they would recommend this programme to a friend* (Cornmarket 2020).
The team at Breast Cancer Ireland provides presentations to schools about the importance of breast health education. During the presentation, a member of the team will show the eight signs and symptoms of breast cancer, as well as how to perform a self-check examination.
Presentations take approximately 30 minutes and can be arranged during lunch time or after school, and would be ideal for Croke Park hours.
Due to Covid-19, the presentations will take place online before resuming within schools once it is safe to do so.
Presentations can be arranged at a time/date that suits staff within your school. We are encouraging all teachers (both male and female) as well as support staff working at schools to join the presentation.
The main focus of this programme is about driving awareness and encouraging members to self-check regularly to identify what is normal for them, so that if an abnormality occurs it will be detected early.
The effect of this programme in the short and longer term will be hugely significant and has the potential to really make a difference to the lives of our members and your colleagues.
