On Friday 18 December 2020, Mr Peter Weir, Minister of Education, issued a statement which outlined that his preferred option for the administration of the unregulated AQE and GL assessments used to facilitate academic selection to grammar schools for year 7 pupils is that they should take place in the pupil’s own primary school setting.
