Position of Executive Officer

Applications are invited for this one-year position based at INTO Head Office and servicing Head Office, Northern Office and INTO remote ICT users. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, responsive and flexible team, committed to achieving INTO objectives in the area of ICT.

Job Specification

The INTO is the largest teachers’ organisation in Ireland representing the trade union and professional interests of 50,000 members in the Republic and Northern Ireland. The ICT Section plays a key role in providing a wide range of ICT based services to colleagues and members in the Republic and Northern Ireland.

The Executive Officer in the ICT Section will work with the ICT team under the management of the ICT Section Head, subject to the overall management of the Deputy General Secretary. Specific duties will include those as itemised below and they will be required to exercise sound judgement, skill and diligent application in the performance of their role and demonstrate flexibility when required.

Initially, specific duties will include:

  • Assisting in the implementation of annual ICT Action Plans to support the implementation of ICT Strategy
  • Implementing and monitoring ICT policies, procedures and processes
  • Working closely with and receiving training from external ICT suppliers
  • Assisting in the ongoing development of the INTO information architecture system, technology infrastructure and ICT security
  • Producing product and system specification documents for acquiring hardware and software
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure adherence to installation/upgrade schedules and service level agreements. Escalating deviations to the ICT Section HeadLogging of day-to-day IT problems
  • Rectifying day-to-day IT problems or escalating to suppliers
  • Providing on-site support as required in INTO Northern Office
  • Assisting with security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Monitoring ICT Managed Service Provider key performance indicators and escalating deviations to the ICT Section Head in a timely manner
  • Identifying INTO ICT User training needs
  • Designing and delivering training to remote INTO ICT Users e.g. Branch and District Officers, National Committees
  • Ad-hoc research relating to equipment, systems etc. in the area of ICT
  • Continuous personal ICT training and development
  • Operating and maintaining effective administrative systems in the ICT Section
  • Such other duties in the ICT Section, or elsewhere within INTO Head Office, as the General Secretary may decide

  • An appreciation of the importance of delivering the highest standards of services and supports to INTO ICT users and INTO members
  • An understanding of the INTO’s objectives and a strong knowledge of the Organisation is desirable

 

Technical Skill Set

  • The successful candidate should be a graduate and/or have appropriate relevant experience of ICT systems and a willingness to acquire additional skills and qualifications as required
  • Experience of working on Office365 and SharePoint implementation an advantage
