11th October 2022
The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) is hosting a free member webinar in conjunction with the HSE to inform members of the key mental health supports for children currently available on Wednesday, October 12.
The webinar will introduce the framework for mental health service delivery in Ireland, focusing on prevention, early intervention and pupil-centred supports. Key staff from the HSE will brief members on the HSE approach to mental health promotion and participate in an expert panel alongside staff from Jigsaw.
The webinar will also feature a contribution from an experienced GP, sharing their perspective from the front line.

Supporting schools
Following adoption of a motion at Congress earlier this year, the INTO campaigned for an increase in supports for schools so that children who are experiencing mental health challenges can receive much needed help at school level.
In our recent budget campaign, we secured an increased investment of €5 million in mental health services in schools, to include a pilot scheme to deliver on-site counselling services on site. We will continue to work with the Department of Education to get this pilot up and running and improve access to these wraparound services nationally.
