The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) thanks all those who donated to our annual Christmas appeal, ‘An Hour for Ukraine’.
Funds raised will assist the Irish Red Cross and UNICEF Ireland in their humanitarian efforts in the war-torn country.
The all-island campaign was a result of a motion passed at INTO Congress 2022, which directed the union to support the ICTU/IBEC initiative to donate one hour’s wages to provide vital aid to the victims of the war.
INTO Deputy General Secretary Deirdre O’Connor explained: “The humanitarian needs in Ukraine are huge, and are increasing by the hour. Our members’ donations will help alleviate suffering for victims of this war by providing blankets, winter clothing and fuel to heat classrooms.
“UNICEF Ireland and The Irish Red Cross are on the ground, working to reach vulnerable children and families with essential services like medical supplies, education water and sanitation.”
