19th September 2023
The INTO will host an inter-agency webinar in collaboration with NCCA and Oide on the new Primary Mathematics Curriculum on Wednesday, 27 September, at 3.30pm.
Following its launch by the Department of Education (DE) earlier this month, this online information session will set out the renewed vision for the Primary Maths Curriculum as well as clarify the cpd framework of supports that teachers and school leaders can expect in the coming years.
The panellists for this session include Tracy Curran (NCCA), John Behan (NCCA), Realtin Berry (Oide), and Maeve McCafferty (INTO).
This will be the first in a series of three webinars centred on the Primary Maths Curriculum with further details on subsequent webinars to follow in due course.
The new curriculum is the result of seven years of consultation and development led by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). The new curriculum will replace the current mathematics curriculum, which is 24 years old having been published in 1999.
A suite of supports for teachers were announced by the DE to help teachers familiarise themselves with the curriculum ahead of its planned implementation in September 2024. On-site supports will be provided by personnel to aid teachers and school leaders by Oide, the new integrated support service.
Hard copies of the curriculum will issue to all schools in the coming weeks. The maths curriculum can be accessed online at: www.ncca.ie and www.curriculumonline.ie.
