The attention of members is drawn to Rule 40 of the INTO Rules and Constitution which governs elections to the offices of president, vice-president, district representatives on the CEC, Benefit Funds Committee (BFC) divisions 3, 4 and 5, Education Committee and the National Appeals Panel divisions 3, 4 and 5, and the Northern Committee.
Rule 40 states that a member may not be nominated for the above positions “unless that member has given notice in writing of intention to be a candidate to the General Secretary not later than 5pm. on the first working day in December proceeding, for publication by the General Secretary prior to the AGMs”.
A full list of members who have indicated their intention to be candidates will be published in an enewsletter to all members in December. Current members of national committees who do not intend to seek re-election are requested to give notice to their respective branches.
While elections are not scheduled to take place in 2024 for the PDC and EQC as the term of the committees will not end until Congress 2026, a by-election is currently underway due to a vacancy arising on the PDC District 6.
The term of office of the BFC divisions 1 and 2 and the National Appeals Panel divisions 1 and 2 will end in 2025.
