Department publishes Circular 0043/2024 detailing teacher pay increase

The Department of Education has published Circular 0043/2024, outlining the latest pay uplift for teachers effective from 1 June 2024. This 1% adjustment is part of the current Public Service Pay Agreement, with the subsequent increase of 1% (or €500 whichever is greater) scheduled for 1 October 2024.

The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) has engaged with the Department of Education who confirmed that this pay rise will be reflected in payslips on Thursday, 6 June 2024. Payment on this date will be for the period 21 May 2024 to 3 June 2024, therefore the increase will be only for the first 3 days of June. On the payslip issued on 20 June, members will receive the full 14 days at the new rate.

Details regarding future increases scheduled for 2025 and 2026 are contained in the ‘Public Service Agreement 2024-2026’. Later this Summer, the INTO will be submitting claims under the local bargaining facility within the agreement with the outcome of these claims being determined within twelve months.
