Global Citizenship School “Share ONE Lesson” Format

  1. TITLE OF LESSON with Age Group. e.g. ‘Children’s Rights’   Ages 7-10 yrs.
  2. Lesson introduction: Short Video / Art work / Game / Poster  etc. 

e.g. a 3 minute video produced by the U.N. about poverty in the *USA. The ‘link to content’ must be freely accessible on-line. 

(*Note that consistently portraying poverty only in ‘poor 3rd world countries’ can reinforce negative stereotypes).  

  1. Class or group discussions with open teacher prompts such as: “What did you like about the video?” “In your opinion, who was the most interesting person in the video and why?” “How do you think the story will end?” How did you feel when ‘X’ happened? etc.
  2. End of lesson activity: Draw a picture or write a poem or story and SHARE it with someone or maybe get help to organise a debate for school assembly?
  3. Follow up action: Go to www.GlobalCitizenshipSchool.ie for more lessons or follow-up ACTION suggestions.
