Does our current Education System protect and promote the Right to Education?
“put an end to the two-tier culture in Northern Ireland by abolishing the 11+ transfer test and ensure that all children are included in admission arrangements in post-primary schools”
United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, 2008
Despite international human rights obligations and long-standing local commitments to abolish academic selection, there are widespread concerns that the rights of children are overlooked in our current Education System.
The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation, in partnership with pupils, parents, teaching staff and the Participation and the Practice of Rights Organisation have developed the following surveys to collect the views of teaching staff and pupils on this issue.
Please complete and return the survey if you are impacted in any way. Please feel free to share. Your information will be treated in complete confidence and produced anonymously to inform future campaigns to improve the Education System:
Thank you to all who participated – the surveys are now closed.
