Earlier in the summer, the Committee for Education launched an on-line survey into post-primary transfer. The survey was targeted initially at parents and guardians with children in Primary 6 or Primary 7. Around 7 thousand respondents have already completed the survey – 80% of which were parents from the target group. Many different views were expressed and these are currently being analysed. A young persons’ version of the survey has also been circulated.
The Committee strongly feels that the opinions of teachers are of critical importance in the evaluation of education and Departmental policy. The Committee therefore agreed to target the final phase of the on-line survey towards teachers and in particular those with responsibility for children in Primary 6 and Primary 7.
The Committee recognises that following a challenging school year in 2019-20 and the unique situation presented by Restart in schools in 2020-21 that teachers will have many competing demands on their time, especially in September, nonetheless, it is hoped that as many teachers as possible would be happy to complete the ONLINE SURVEY HERE.
