A voluntary survey of Substitute Teachers throughout Northern Ireland is going live today.
Responses to this survey will be completely anonymised and will be used to inform the Review of the Use of Temporary and Substitute Teachers which is one of the nine reviews committed to within the Teachers’ Pay and Workload Agreement and ratified by the Teachers’ Negotiating Committee on 28 April 2020.
The collated data will be considered by the Joint Working Group and may also be shared with other areas of the Department and Employing Authorities to inform future workforce planning.
INTO expects that the survey will help with the modernisation of policies, procedures, and practices, greater permanent/fixed-term employment opportunities, improved guidance for schools on good engagement practices and effective governance and monitoring. For those reasons INTO urges all substitute teachers registered with NISTR to check their emails and participate in the survey post.
