19th October 2022
NISTR issued a letter yesterday, 18th October 2022, relating to a payroll update.
Apparently, some issues with teachers’ salaries are linked to compliance with basic audit requirements or the absence of critical information:
- Schools had not signed-off the booking providing the employer approval to pay salary.
- The teacher had not provided payroll with bank details.
- The teacher is not live on the NISTR system; and
- Some teachers were in contract until end of August and already in receipt of salary creating a duplicate payment issue.
EA state that they have sent targeted communications to all users whose pay is impacted
by the reasons outlined above.
A number of bookings have not been signed off by schools – the October deadline for schools was 5pm on 5th October 2022.
In addition, a number of booked supply teachers cannot be signed off as they are not correctly registered with NISTR.
Supply teachers need to check both of these issues with the school before they contact NISTR.
It seems, however, there has been an additional payroll administrative issue which has impacted a number of teachers who will not have received their salary this month.
EA have stated that they will provide an interim payment to teachers impacted by this processing error, which they will receive by Tuesday 25th October. All impacted teachers have apparently been notified of their revised payment date.
Please check if you have received an email from EA in light of the above information.
