The 2026 Equality Conference is scheduled to take place in the Tullamore Court Hotel, Friday 23 & Saturday 24 January, 2026. The conference theme is ‘Diversity in Schools: From Classroom to Staffroom’. Delegate registration is now open via the portal on the INTO website.
The conference will focus on the experiences of teachers from under-represented backgrounds within the teaching profession, as recognised under employment equality legislation. These include, but are not limited to, individuals from ethnic minority communities, those with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of minority religious backgrounds, individuals with diverse family statuses, those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and members of the Traveller community.
In addition to exploring the professional journeys and challenges faced by these teachers and school leaders, the conference will also feature a strong emphasis—particularly through its workshops—on strategies for supporting pupils from similar backgrounds.
In light of the conference theme, we strongly encourage branches and districts to actively consider strategies for prioritising and supporting the participation of members from the aforementioned, under-represented backgrounds. Branches may wish to consider proactive outreach, by highlighting in the meeting invitation that the delegates for the equality conference will be chosen at the meeting and encouraging members who have previously shown an interest to attend. Our aim is to ensure broad and diverse representation at this important event, and we are hopeful that the conference will reflect the growing diversity of our membership.

Branch and District Committees are invited to nominate delegates to the Conference in accordance with the following figures:
Branches
- Up to 139 members 2 delegates
- 140 – 449 members 3 delegates
- 450 members or over 4 delegates
District Committees 2 delegates
Cancellation/Late registration
Online registration closes at 5pm on Monday 12 January, 2026. After this date, please contact Joanna O’Byrne or Caoimhe Neeson in Head Office equality@into.ie / 01 804 7700 to make changes to delegates (cancellations, replacements etc).
While circumstances will always arise where delegates will have to cancel at short notice, it would be helpful if Head Office could be notified as soon as possible so that places can be offered to other members.

It will be a matter for delegates to make their own arrangements for meals and accommodation. See a list of nearby hotels & accommodation below.
