INTO host a number of leadership events throughout each academic year. We also co-host events with our colleagues in the UTU and NEU bringing school leaders together to discuss the issues most relevant to you.
Over the past number of years topics discussed and debated have included:
- Managing Change in Education
- Tackling Violence and Abusive Behaviour Towards Teachers
- Cyber Bullying
- School Finances
- Shared Education
- The Impact of School Reorganisation
- The Spectre of Mental Health in Education
- Coping with Stress
District 1 and District 2 representatives on the INTO Principals’ and Deputy Principals’ Committee attend the events as well as members of the Northern Committee. These events provide an opportunity for you as school leaders to present your views to the INTO leadership.
These events are extremely popular and are often over-subscribed so book your place early to avoid disappointment.

School Leaders Training
This is an accredited course for school leaders delivered by an ICTU tutor over 6 weeks, via a combination of zoom and face-to-face, providing practical tips on how to build good staff relations and deal with difficult conversations/situations.
The topics covered in the course include:
• Effective communication
• Managing difficult situations
• Handling grievances and disciplinaries
• Mediation/LRA
There are 6 x3 hour sessions, 3 before Christmas and 3 after:
Week 1 - Wednesday 19th November 2025 – 1.30-4.30pm via Teams
Week 2 - Wednesday 26th November 2025 – 1.30-4.30pm in INTO Northern Office
Week 3 – Wednesday 3rd December 2025 – 1.30-4.30pm via Teams
Week 4 – Wednesday 28th January 2025 – 1.30-4.30pm in INTO Northern office
Week 5 – Wednesday 4th February 2026 – 1.30-4.30pm via Teams
Week 6 – Thursday 11th February 2026 – 1.30-4.30pm in INTO Northern Office
