Revised Parental Complaints Procedure for Primary Schools

The Parental Complaints Procedure provides parents and teachers with a structured and agreed format with which to seek resolution to grievances and complaints which can arise, from time to time, in schools. Based on the principles of fair procedures, the intention at each stage of the procedure is to provide a format for both parties to explore a resolution at the earliest opportunity.

New Boards of Management commence today

Effective from 1 December, new boards of management will be constituted in schools across the country. The INTO wishes to acknowledge the great voluntary work done by board members to ensure the smooth running of primary and special schools around the country. During this term, boards will mark their 50th anniversary in 2025.

Domestic Violence Leave circular published

The Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023, enacted on 4 April 2023, includes a statutory paid leave provision to support workers who are victims of domestic violence, or who are providing support to a “relevant person” who is experiencing domestic violence. The DE published circular 59/2023 yesterday, which sets out the terms of this leave provision for teachers.

INTO joins global calls for ceasefire in Middle East
