The Irish National Teachers Organisation, INTO, welcomed the decision by the Health Minister, Mr Michael McGimpsey to offer the swine flu vaccine to teachers in special schools.

Teachers get 2.3% Salary Increase

INTO and colleague unions have been successful in getting a 2.3% pay rise from 1 September 2009, in line with teachers in GB. A further 2.3% will be awarded to teachers on 1 September 2010.

Pensions Update

The consultation on the changes to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and Premature Retirement Compensation (PRC) Regulations has closed. INTO has submitted a comprehensive response which is available to download from this website. In total over 70 responses have been received by the Department of Education as part of the consultation.

Breaking News on Pensions

The draft Pension Regulations will now not be ready as planned before 31 August 2009. The Education Minister has now decided to have an Equality Impact Assessment on the draft Regulations.
