Boycott Of New Assessment Arrangements

At the Annual INTO Northern Conference in Derry at the beginning of March INTO delegates unanimously passed the following motion:
‘Conference condemns CCEA and the Department of Education for the introduction of a cross-curricular skills based assessment which is not fit for purpose. Conference calls on the Northern Committee to initiate a boycott of the cross-curricular assessment arrangements until such time as they are teacher-friendly, work-load proofed and fit for purpose, in line with INTO policy. Conference further calls on Northern Committee to boycott the introduction of assessing using ICT until the issues surrounding numeracy and communication have been resolved.’

Handwriting Competition 2013

This year's competition was formally launched on Tuesday 22 January by INTO President Anne Fay and EBS Marketing Manager Emma Hunt-Duffy. The competition which is running for 21 years is open to all pupils in primary schools throughout Ireland. This competition attracts entries from over 100,000 children each year. Entries are judged on style, flair, neatness and layout of the handwriting.
