Important notice to all teachers taking up new fixed-term and permanent employment for the 2017/2018 school year
The DES has advised that all teachers taking up new fixed term or permanent employment for the 2017/2018 school year are required to return the ‘Primary Teachers Appointment and Reappointment Form 2017/2018’ to Primary Payroll by Friday, 14 July 2017 in order to ensure prompt payment of salary from the beginning of September.
All teachers whose appointment/re-appointment to a post has been ratified at this stage should liaise with their school and return this form before Friday.
A delay in returning this form may result in a delay in payment in September. In the event of appointments made after Friday, 14 July, the ‘Primary Teachers Appointment and Re-appointment Form 2017/2018’ should be returned to Primary Payroll as soon as possible following the appointment.
Teachers should also note that the Appointment/Reappointment Form contains a Guidance Note on page 6, which should be read carefully prior to filling out the ‘Declaration under the Single Pension Scheme’ on page 4. All teacher are required to complete this section regardless of their pension scheme.
The INTO can also confirm that teachers moving from permanent to fixed term employment and those moving from fixed term to permanent employment will not see a change in relation to their increments or salary scale by virtue of a change in employment status. Any increments accrued from previous teaching experience will continue to be recognised.
