Teachers’ Views on Standardised Testing
The INTO is undertaking a collaborative research project with the Centre for Assessment Research Policy and Practice (CARPE) at DCU to explore the use of standardised tests in Irish primary schools.
Issues to be addressed will include teachers’ understanding of standardised tests, how standardised tests are used formatively and diagnostically and the experiences of schools in reporting on the results of standardised tests. It is anticipated that the findings of the project will inform both policy and practice regarding standardised testing in Irish primary schools.
The questionnaire will be piloted in March 2017 and will then issue to a random selection of teachers in May 2017. If you are randomly selected to respond to the questionnaire we would strongly urge you to participate in this significant piece of research.
