Homelessness is an educational crisis too

Almost 3,000 children are in emergency homeless accommodation with their parents. Most of these children are in primary schools.

Schoolchildren who are homeless struggle in school and the experience can undermine their entire education. Homelessness is an educational crisis too.

Teachers in schools are struggling to help these children cope. Many schools are working hard to relieve the stress and provide support. However, three years into the family homeless crisis there has been no support for hard pressed teachers, no advice, no guidance and no additional resources.

Email the Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton to demand that he recognise homelessness as an educational crisis too
