What the Draft Public Service Stability Agreement says on new entrant pay

If the Draft Public Service Stability Agreement is accepted an examination of post January 2011 entry level pay scales will begin within 12 months. Following this, unions and management will agree how the matter can be addressed. However, there is no commitment in the agreement to fund this during the lifetime of the agreement. Any outcome will be restricted to unions in the agreement.

The CEC therefore urges members to vote NO

The proposed agreement does not progress the issue of pay equality imposed by government on new entrant teachers. While progress was made in recent years on pay equality the recent pay talks were an opportunity to draw a line under discrimination and right a wrong imposed on new entrant teachers. The proposed agreement does not signal an end to pay inequality.

The INTO Executive having considered this proposed agreement in detail recommends that members reject it by voting NO in the ballot.
