Pay Restoration/Uplift from 1 September 2017
Revised pay scales apply from 1 September 2017.
These scales include an uplift of €796 at all points to complete the commitment to recognise supervision and substitution (S&S) work within the pay scale. This uplift takes the form of a change to basic fortnightly pay rather than a lump sum payment.
The INTO, in the Haddington Road Agreement (2013), negotiated the restoration/reintroduction of an S&S-related payment with half included in the pay scale in the school year 2016/17 and the second half included in the year 2017-18. At the Lansdowne Road Agreement (LRA) talks in 2015, the INTO secured a commitment that payment would be in place from 1 September 2017, the earliest date in the new school year.
Between this change, the earlier payment of an LRA €1,000 on to scales (April 2017), and the securing (through INTO negotiation in late 2016) of an amount within scales related to an honours degree allowance, the entry point for current joiners has increased between 1 September 2016 and 1 September 2017 by €2,797 (from €31,805 to €34,602).
