Supply teachers are automatically members of the Northern Ireland Teachers’ Pension Scheme (NITPS) unless they decide to opt-out. Appropriate pension deductions will be taken for any hours / days you work. The NITPS gives distinct benefits to teachers who retire and includes a substantial employer contribution to those pension benefits. The INTO recommends that supply teachers continue to be members of the NITPS.
