To teach in a primary school in the Republic of Ireland there is an Irish Language requirement to be fulfilled.

The SCG (An Scrúdú le hAghaidh Cáilíochta sa Ghaeilge) / OCG (Oiriúnú le hAghaidh Cáilíochta sa Ghaeilge) examination facilitates foreign trained primary teachers to satisfy the Irish language requirement to become fully registered (“registered without conditions”) with the Teaching Council.
