  • Assault Leave

  • Brief Absences

    The term ‘brief absences’ encompasses short-term occasional absences sanctioned for teachers during the school year.

  • Career Breaks

    Registered teachers that have completed at least twelve months continuous service with the same employer are eligible to apply for career break.

  • Sick Leave

    Permanent, CID-holding, fixed-term, and non-casual substitute teachers will have access to paid sick leave under the public service sick leave scheme.

  • Carer’s Leave

    Carer’s leave is a period of unpaid leave for a teacher to look after someone in need of full-time care.

  • Secondments

    A secondment is when a teacher is temporarily released from their teaching post to work with another organisation/body, doing work that is beneficial to the educational system.

  • Parental Leave

    Parental leave is unpaid leave available to teachers for the purpose of caring for children.

  • Parent’s Leave

    Parent’s Leave is a statutory entitlement to seven additional weeks of leave available to both parents of children born on or after 1 November 2019, which must be taken within the first two years after birth.
